A new demonstrator for reduced consumption and CO2 emissions - IFPEN partner of the Renault Trucks Falcon project

April 2017

LUTB

The aim of the Falcon - Flexible & Aerodynamic truck for Low CONsumption - project is to develop a complete fuel-efficient heavy truck designed to transport goods over long distances between peri-urban zones. Through the implementation of innovative concepts, the objective is to achieve a 13% reduction in fuel consumption compared to a standard coupling towed by a Renault Trucks T.

Along with Enogia, IFPEN will be responsible for the development of the prototype of a new-generation Rankine heat recovery system, as well as digital simulation to evaluate component performance (IFPEN) and the development of prototype turbines (Enogia).

Falcon is a 3-year project led by Renault Trucks with a consortium of 12 partners made up of Faurecia, Michelin, Total, Fruehauf, Wezzoo, Benomad, Styl'Monde, Polyrim, Enogia, IFPEN, the École centrale de Lyon (LMFA) and the IFSTTAR (LTE; LESCOT). It is receiving state  financing via the French interministerial fund Fonds unique interministériel (F.U.I.).
