In France

IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) is strongly involved in the French research and innovation system (SFRI), taking part in discussions and implementing concrete initiatives in partnership with other research players.

IFPEN has partnerships with over 200 academic research teams in France: Andra, BRGM, CEA, CNRS, Inra, Ineris, Inrets, PRES in Lyon, Pierre et Marie Curie University, etc. These networks are a source of exchange and comparison regarding advances in the research sector.
Close relationships are also nurtured with funding, guiding and assessment structures in the French research landscape : Ademe, ANR, Oseo, ANRT, etc.
These relationships take a number of forms:

  • secondment of personnel,
  • participation in think tanks, steering or evaluation committees,
  • etc.

A collaborative approach hinged around bio-economics

Bio-economics covers all the economic activities related to the development of processes and products of biological origin.
A logical follow-on from the principles of sustainable development and the green economy, bio-economics is a key concept in the achievement of a low-carbon society capable of meeting energy, environmental and competitiveness challenges.
IFPEN has joined forces with Inra to evaluate the role of bio-economics in France. The two organizations recommend a new systemic approach, taking into account all the interdependent issues involved within the same approach. This joint reflection process should lead to a roadmap designed to guide and program research in this field.
