Responsible oil and gas

Discover new oil and gas reserves and improve the production of existing ones, optimize the use of water for oil production, meet the growing demand for oil products while simultaneously improving the efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of processes, and produce “clean” hydrogen economically: the oil industry faces a multitude of challenges, challenges that form the focus of IFPEN’s research.

To tackle these challenges, IFPEN's research programs focus on two broad themes, aiming to:

  1. Exploring and producing oil and gas reserves
  2. Refining-petrochemicals, a rapidly evolving sector

For this research, IFPEN is working alongside major industrial players in the field – oil companies, oil & gas supply and service companies, chemists – such as CGG, Petrobras, Repsol, Solvay, Statoil, Technip and Total.
Research results are taken to market by its subsidiary Beicip-Franlab and by license holders.
